History
1880年5月4日ケーニヒスベルク生まれ。1909年、フランツ・ホフマンと共同で、ベルリンで設計事務所を設立。
1916年、トルコのコンスタンチノープル(現イスタンブール)にドイツ・トルコ友好会館建設1921年～24年、マクデブルク市建築課勤務。1924年、ベルリン住宅供給公社ゲハークの主任建築家就任、ブリッツ・ジードルング等を設計する。1930年、ベルリンのシャルロッテンブルク工科大学客員教授。1932～33年、ソビエト連邦にて活動。1933年5月3日来日（敦賀着）。1934年、高崎に移住、井上工芸研究所顧問として工芸製品のデザイン、製作指導を行う。1936年10月15日離日、同年イスタンブール着。1938年12月24日心臓疾患で病没（58歳）。
